PROFILE:
1.) INTRODUCTION:
Osun State Association of Medical and Dental Officers (OSAMDO) was formed following the creation of Osun State from old Oyo State on 27th August, 1991 by the regime of military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
The association was an off-shoot of the Association of Medical and Dental Officers of Oyo State (AMDO) with the foundation Chairman, Dr. Simeon Adeyemi Afolayan.
The association is an affiliated body of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Osun State branch with its secretariat at OSAMDO house, Km 4, Gbongan-Ibadan road, Osogbo. Osun State.

2.) OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION:
The association was formed with the following objectives:
i.) To ensure that Medical and Dental Practitioners with Osun State public service uphold the physician Oath (i.e. the Declaration of Geneva), which is the modern Hippocratic Oath.
ii.) To assist the Government and people of Osun State in particular and Nigeria in general in provision of a smooth, efficient, effective and affordable Healthcare delivery system.
iii.) To consider and express views on all proposed legislations affecting healthcare delivery system in the State.
iv.) To organise seminar, update courses, and continue education programme in modern medicine and dentistry for its members in particular and the public in general.
v.) To cater for the welfare of all Medical and Dental professionals in the public service.
vi.) To promote and encourage closer relationship among Medical and Dental professionals within the State and
vii.) To establish and maintain cordial relationship with other allied professional groups within the state public service of as the leader of health team.
3.) MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION:
The association members shall consist of the following
i.) Medical or Dental practitioners registered with Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and employed by the State of Osun Government upon payment of the annual practising licence fees to the MDCN and died prescribed by the association.
ii.) Membership of the association shall be classified as follows:
a.) Full members;
b.) Associate members
iii.) Full members shall b Medical and Dental Practitioners registered with MDCN, employed by the State of Osun Government and with payment of prescribed dues by the association.
And shall have the right, duties and privileges as contained in the association constitution, shall abide by it and not act in any way contrary to its objectives and shall be eligible to nominate or second a candidate for election, vote and be voted for at a General Meeting or Emergency meeting of the association.
iv.) Associate members shall be Medical and Dental Practitioners not ordinarily eligible to be full members.
A prospective Associate member shall have his/her credentials scrutinised and his/her contribution to the welfare of the association reviewed by the Executive Council which shall in turn recommend such a person to the House for ratification at a General or Emergency meeting. Associate members shall have the right, duties and privileges of members except the right to vote, nominate, or second for election at a General or Emergency meeting of the association.

The State is divided to nine (9) administrative healthcare level through the Osun State Hospitals Management Board (OSSHMB) with a Board headed by a Chairman and a Permanent Secretary as the accounting officer.
There are Directorates such as Medical services, Pharmaceutical services, Finance and accounting, Administration and supply, Physiotherapy; of recent, Nursing and Laboratory services.

6.) THE SECRETARIAT:
The association occupies her house named OSAMDO house, located at Km 4, Gbongan-Ibadan road, Osogbo and can be assessed via Google maps.
Precisely, the third house after the over-head brigde when driving from the Osun State secretariat, immediately after the NMA Osun State house.
The building has halls of varying capacities for social and academic activities at moderate fees.
7.) BANKER TO THE ASSOCIATION:
The association has two accounts with the First Bank of Nigeria Plc, Oke-Fia, Osogbo branch.
The first is a general purpose account while the other is a special purpose account for her building project.
8.) THE ASSOCIATION ORGANOGRAM AND THE CURRENT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
The association runs her affairs through the Executive committee, Executive Council and General meeting.
The decision reached at the General Meetings are supreme and have a binding effects on the association.
The present executive committee members were elected into the offices on Wednesday, 26th October 2016 for a period of two years (i.e. year 2016-18) were as follows:

10.) OSAMDO HOUSE:
This is an ongoing capital project by the association and served as the secretariat with 40-50℅ completion.
The pioneer Chairman of the building committee was late Dr. Adebukola Adetoye of blessed memory. He handed over to Dr. Adebukola Titus Adegbite with unmeasurable contribution towards completing the house.
He was succeeded by the present building committee chairman, Dr. Olanrewaju Joseph Ojo with continuing vigour and dedication towards the completion of the OSAMDO house.
11.) OSAMDO AS AN AFFILIATED BODY OF OSUN NMA:
The association is an active member of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Osun State branch both financially and participation in NMA programme at State, Zonal and National activities.
Her members had occupied various offices in NMA at different times:

Former Assistant General Secretary, NMA National for SW zone,
Former Chairmen of various committees of NMA National, an aspirant to the post of National President of NMA and
Former National President, NAGGMDP.
2.) Dr. Niyi Oginni - former Publicity Secretary NMA Osun, later Chairman NMA Osun, former Chairman, South Western caucus of NMA,
Former Chairmen of various committees of NMA National, former Chairman of NMA Osun Electoral committee, An aspirant to the post of General Secretary NMA National and notable elder in NMA Osun.
3.) Dr. Emmanuel Olukayode Ajewole - former Vice Chairman I, NMA Osun, later Chairman NMA Osun and notable elder of Osun NMA.
